Lake Bowen Info
Lake Bowen, Lake Blalock, and Reservoir #1 were constructed by Spartanburg Water System as water storage reservoirs, and their primary function is to ensure an adequate water supply. Recreation is a secondary benefit of Lakes Bowen and Blalock and has proved to be a tremendous resource for the residents of Spartanburg County. In order to protect the reservoirs as a source of drinking water, certain rules and regulations have been adopted by the Commissioners of Spartanburg Water System. These rules and regulations are intended to protect and enhance the water quality in the reservoir, maintain and minimize disturbance of the buffer zone owned by Spartanburg Water System around the lakes, and provide safe recreation for all the users of the lakes.
