Need water or sewer service?

Want to add an irrigation meter? Want to find out if water or sewer service is available in your area? Need to know what it costs to add services in your area? This page is designed to offer answers to these questions.

Q. What does New Comnnections do?

A. New Connections is the section of Customer Service you contact if you need water or sewer service for a structure that does not have these services, is within our service areas, and has lines available. You can also apply for water only or sewer service only or purchase a separate meter for irrigation purposes.

Q. What areas are served by Spartanburg Water System/Spartanburg Sanitary Sewer District?

A.Click on the link to see our service areas. SWS/SSSD Service Areas Note: Not all areas within the service area have sewer or water available. In some areas, water may be available and sewer will not be and in other areas sewer may be available but water will not. In some areas, neither water nor sewer will be available. Call New Connections for availability.

Q. What information will I need in order to obtain service?

A. The customer will need to provide:

·         The person's name the account should be in.

·         The service address including Subdivision name and lot number if applicable

·         The billing address

·         The account name’s Social Security Number or tax ID number

·         Daytime or Business telephone number

·         The name and telephone number of the plumber who will install the service line.

Q. How much does it cost to have service started?

A. The cost can vary based on location, meter size and service line type. Call New Connections for pricing.

Q. How long will it take to connect the service after payment and application have been submitted?

A. It depends. If a service line for water is already located in front of the structure, it usually takes 10-15 business days before the meter will be installed. This includes tapping the line and placing the meter box on the property and connecting the meter to the tapped line. The customer is responsible for making sure the line from the meter to the structure is connected. If the water line is under construction, you will need to contact New Connections for scheduled completion dates.

Sewer taps can be made by any licensed plumber after Spartanburg Sanitary Sewer District fees have been paid.  Contact New Connections for pricing and connection requirements or click the following link.   Technical Specifications for Sewer System Improvements
